We are living in a tempest of a time, and my mind seeks the familiar. I picked up an 8” android eink tablet, and was pretty surprised at the lack of really good game experiences built for it’s black and white display. A few weeks ago I wrote about getting the full ARM64 Steam client running on an unrooted Android tablet. At the time it was a proof of concept. Steam opened, authenticated, downloaded games, and launched a few of them through Proton 11 ARM64, FEX, DXVK, and Turnip. That felt like a good start to share.
I’ve been having so much fun running full steam games on my switch lite! Just this weekend I got Psychnauts running well (with no overclocks!) These can be good times even if they are complicated times. Sometimes, you just need to know something is possible before it becomes easy for everyone. That’s what I’m hoping for here. I’ve got a proof of concept that’s working well enough to share, but I’m sure it could be much better done in a bespoke manner by a developer with more time. Full graphics-accelerated steam and steam games, inside a termux linux session , running on an unrooted stock Galaxy Tab S8+ (SM-X808U, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 / Adreno 730).
