I would go for the serial one.  I cannot speak for the usb one, as I got the serial one myself, but in my experience with these sort of proprietary usb interfaces you&#039;ve got about a 50/50 shot with it.  If you don&#039;t have a serial port, I got my serial-&gt;usb converter for only a couple dollars.  The nice thing about the serial to usb converters is that they&#039;re all based on the cheapest chipset possible, which are all supported natively.</description>

The serial one is £12 cheaper, but if i use ubuntu will the usb one need any drivers or anything, will it work right out of the box?</description>
